Ifcledger support
Guidance for importing IFC STEP files, tracing model data, comparing revisions, reviewing findings, and exporting handoff evidence.
Start with the synthetic model
Ifcledger opens with a clearly labeled synthetic IFC4 exchange. Use it to inspect Audit, Structure, Data, Compare, and Handoff without selecting a private project file.
Open an IFC exchange
Tap the folder button in Audit and choose an IFC STEP Physical File from Apple's file picker. Ifcledger recognizes IFC2X3, IFC4, and IFC4.3 family labels for its bounded semantic inspection. It surfaces missing or unfamiliar schema declarations as findings.
Read the audit
Audit shows entity and relationship inventory plus evidence-backed findings. A critical or warning label identifies a review priority, not automatic project rejection. Open the finding to inspect exact STEP IDs, evidence, and the recommended follow-up.
Browse structure
Structure resolves selected IfcRelAggregates and IfcRelContainedInSpatialStructure relationships into project, site, building, storey, and space rows. Search by name, class, path, or STEP ID.
Inspect data
Data searches indexed records by entity class, display name, GlobalId, and STEP ID. Entity detail shows source line, forward references, reverse references, linked property facts, linked quantities, and the complete source record.
Compare revisions
In Compare, select a candidate IFC file. Ifcledger matches rooted objects by compressed GlobalId and reports additions, removals, class changes, renames, and changes in linked property or quantity evidence. It does not compare geometry.
Record review state
Open a finding to set its local status to Open, Acknowledged, Resolved, or Accepted and add a review note. These records stay in the app's local container and are included in the next evidence package.
Export the evidence package
Open Handoff and tap Export audit package. Ifcledger creates JSON summary data, CSV entity and issue ledgers, property and quantity ledgers, an optional revision-diff CSV, TXT and PDF reports, and a SHA-256 manifest. Choose a destination through Apple's share sheet.
If a large file feels slow
Allow the import overlay to finish before switching tabs. Close other memory-intensive apps and retry from a local copy in Files. IFC exchanges with unusually large geometry statements can still require substantial memory even though Ifcledger does not render that geometry.
Method boundary
Ifcledger does not render geometry, author IFC, certify schema conformance, validate an IDS, detect geometric clashes, estimate cost, approve a delivery, or provide contractual acceptance. Confirm findings in the project's approved authoring, coordination, validation, and quality workflow.
Contact support
Include Ifcledger version 1.0 build 4 or later, device model, iOS or iPadOS version, declared IFC schema, approximate file size, the affected screen, and reproducible steps. Do not email proprietary IFC files or confidential handoff reports.
