Ifcledger support
Guidance for preserving IFC revisions, reviewing source and coverage evidence, evaluating delivery checks, comparing changes, triaging findings, and exporting a review package.
Explore the synthetic case
Fresh installs include a clearly labeled Riverside Clinic Review demonstration case with two synthetic IFC4 revisions and three local delivery checks. It contains no real project data and lets you review every workstream without selecting a private file.
Create a delivery case
Tap the plus button in Delivery cases, then enter a title and optional project code, milestone, author, reviewer, and review note. A case keeps source revisions, requirements, findings, decisions, and review evidence together.
Import an IFC revision
Open a case, tap Import IFC revision, and choose an IFC STEP Physical File through Apple's file picker. Ifcledger preserves the selected bytes locally, records SHA-256 provenance, and refuses to add the same source twice to one case. Its bounded parser recognizes IFC2X3, IFC4, and IFC4.3 family declarations and reports unfamiliar or missing declarations explicitly.
Review the source ledger
Source ledger shows the selected revision's filename, timestamp, size, declared schema, checksum, parser diagnostics, and searchable entity inventory. Search by STEP ID, class, name, or GlobalId, then open a record to inspect source text and references.
Follow relationships
Relationships resolves selected aggregation and spatial-containment records into project, site, building, storey, and space paths. Entity detail also shows forward and reverse references plus selected linked property and quantity evidence.
Measure data coverage
Data coverage separates class, attribute, property, and quantity views. Naming and GlobalId percentages are shown only where those concepts apply. Use Show incomplete rows only to focus on gaps, then open a row to see supporting STEP records.
Build a delivery contract
Delivery contract supports presence, allowed-value, and numeric-range checks against selected attributes and linked property or quantity facts. Create checks in the app or import a CSV requirement set. Unsupported checks remain unsupported, and a class absent from the selected revision is reported as not applicable rather than passed.
Compare revisions
Revision gate compares rooted objects by GlobalId and linked semantic evidence. It reports additions, removals, class changes, renames, and property or quantity changes. Read the displayed confidence level and limitations before interpreting unmatched records. The gate does not compare geometry.
Triage findings
Findings can be filtered by severity and review state. Open a finding to assign an owner and due date, select Open, Reviewed, Accepted, or Follow up, and add a local note. The evidence identifiers remain attached to the finding.
Build the evidence package
Review package summarizes readiness and package contents. Preserved IFC source bytes are excluded by default; turn on Include preserved IFC source bytes only when the recipient should receive them. Tap Build evidence package and choose a destination through Apple's share sheet.
If a large file feels slow
Allow import processing to finish before changing workstreams. Retry from a local copy in Files and close other memory-intensive apps. IFC exchanges with very large STEP records can require substantial memory even though Ifcledger does not render geometry.
Method boundary
Ifcledger does not render geometry, author IFC, validate IDS files, certify schema or project compliance, detect clashes, estimate cost, approve a delivery, or connect to an authoring tool, BIM server, or common data environment. Confirm findings in the project's approved authoring, coordination, validation, and qualified review workflow.
